Free talk: When is your birthday What will you do on your birthday （设计意图：通过 chant导入，活跃课堂气氛，结合 free talk，复习旧知，练习日期的表达，为后面的日期作铺垫，排除阅读障碍。） Step 2. Pre-reading 1. Watch a video about cats. 引出 baby cat or little cat means kitten. 教读 kitten 2. Our friend Sarah has a cat. Now her cat has two new kittens. 引出课题Sarah likes them and she writes down the changes in her diary. 引出 diary，教读单词 （设计意图：引出本课题目 Two new kittens，引出 diary，直接过渡到文本学习，带入文本情境。） Step 3. While-reading 1. Read and find out how many diaries does Sarah write. What are the dates 2. Read by themselves and find out difficult words: still, make noises, white fur. （设计意图：初步整体感知文本，发现疑难并处理。） 3. Read the first diary with 4 questions: What’s the date How old are they What are they like What can’t they do Ask a student to read the diary.
