It is a kind of consolidation and practice. The students have learned how to talk about the weather today and tomorrow in Lesson1,Lesson 2 and Lesson 3. The main purpose of lesson 4 is to help students talk about the weather more fluently and develop their comprehensive language competence. Ⅲ. Analysis of the learners: Students of Grade Four are still interested in learning English. They are active in class and eager to express their opinions. From lesson 1 to lesson 3, they have learned how to talk about the weather today and tomorrow. It’s not difficult for them to do the activities about the weather in this class. But it is a challenge for them to give a weather report. Although students have learnt some words and phrases about activities and clothes before, it is really a bigger challenge for them to talk about activities, clothes and weather in different seasons and cities. Ⅳ. Teaching goals: 1. Knowledge goal: 1) All the students can imitate the dialogue and make a role play. 2) All the students can use the following sentences to talk about the weather fluently: How’s the weather It’s snowing today. It will be sunny tomorrow.3) All the students can read the words with y, u, s, l and find out the spelling rules. 4) Most of the students can read and understand the passages about Xinjiang and Kunming with the aid of a video or pictures. 2. Ability goal: 1) All the students can talk about the weather at present and in the future. 2)Most of the students can give a weather report. 3) Most of the students can talk further about the weather in different cities. 4) Most of the students can read aloud simple words according to spelling rules. 3. Emotion goal: Establish students’ national spirit by talking about the weather in different cities. Ⅴ. Key points and difficult points 1. Key point:Use the words and phrases to describe different weather at present and in the future. 2. Difficult point: 1) Word “be” should be used before sunny, windy, cloudy when we talk about the weather tomorrow. 2) How to talk about seasons and weather in different cities. Ⅵ. Teaching procedures Step 1 Warming up 1. Demonstration: Students sing a weather song and have a brainstorm to get down into learning English. 2. Sing a song: How’s the weather 3. Brainstorm: Can you say some words about weather 【Purpose】 Make students relax and arouse their knowledge about weather. Strengthen their interest in studying English Step 2 Practice Demonstration: In this part, students have four tasks to do. Task one is the phonics which is the part of “Listen and repeat” on page 58 of the textbook. Task two is a dialogue which is the part of “Let’s talk” on page 58 of the textbook.
