How to discover and summarize the rules of using the past participle and use verb-ed in different situations correctly. 2. To learn more vocabulary used for describing personal qualities and apply the relevant words to interpersonal communication. 3. To develop your listening skills to get key information in listening and complete the contents of registration form . Step 1 Grammar--ed as attributive Activity 1 1. Help students identify the part of speech of the verb-ed form in the following sentences. ① In Uganda, Ryan at last saw the finished well with his own eyes. ② Many inspired people gave him their support. Notes: The verb-ed forms are used as adjectives to modify the nouns when they appear before nouns. ③ Ryan had troubled believing the words spoken by his teacher. ④ A well built near a primary school in Uganda cost $2000. Notes: (1) A verb-ed phrase is used after a noun to modify the noun like an attribute clause. (2) The verb-ed form can express the passive meaning or the past meaning. 2. Change the verb-ed form in the sentences from ① to ④ above into an attributive clause. ⑤ In Uganda, Ryan at last saw the well , _____, with his own eyes ⑥ Many people, _____, gave him their support. ⑦ Ryan had troubled believing the words, _____. ⑧ A well, _____, cost $2000. 3. Guide the students to summarize the usage of attributive in the past participle. (1) The verb-ed form are used before nouns as adjectives to modify the nouns like attribute clauses. (2) The verb-ed phrases are used after nouns to modify the nouns like attribute clauses. (3) The verb-ed form can express the passive meaning or the past meaning. Step 2 Practice Activity 2 The students read the discussion about Ryan’s foundation and rewrite the underlined sentences with the -ed form. ① Ryan is a young man who is admired by a lot of people. Ryan is a young man _____. ② The money which is raised by his foundation support schools and communities in Africa. The money _____ support schools and communities in Africa. ③ As in the words which were spoken by Ryan, we need to not only donate money but also....
