
Lesson plan for “I love winter” Period:Period 6 Type:Writing Duration: 40 minutes The analysis of teaching material: The teaching material is the task part from the Junior English textbook (Unit 7 Book 3) by Yilin Press. The topic of this unit is seasons. This passage mainly introduces writer’s favorite season: winter. It consists of 4 paragraphs. The first paragraph is a general introduction of writer’s favorite season. Para.2 and Para.3 are mainly about the features and the activities in winter. The last paragraph is writer’s opinion. The content is appropriate to students’ experienced knowledge. And it provides the students with opportunities to use target language and stimulate students to seek further information about the four seasons. So the students should be familiar with the topic and be able to write a short passage about their own favorite seasons in groups. The analysis of learning condition: The students are from Grade 8, Ma’anshan Experimental Middle School. They have achieved certain English level and have the ability to get the basic idea of the reading material. But they may not know how to write an article clearly and coherently. Moreover, their vocabulary is limited so they may have difficulties in expressing and writing. As they are familiar with seasons, they should be easily activated and want to voice their own opinions on the topic. Learning objectives: A.
