Unit 7 What’s the highest mountain in the world Section A 3a-3c Today I’m going to talk about the reading of Unit 7 on page 51. In order to make it clear, I will prepare to begin my lesson form following parts. Part I .Teaching material 1.Status and function The topic of this unit is about the world. Such a topic is related to geography and nature. so it’s easy to arouse students’ learning interests. As we all know, reading has a great effect on speaking and writing. Therefore this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material. 2.Teaching objectives Knowledge objectives a).To understand the content of the passage. b).To master comparatives and superlatives with adjectives and adverbs Ability objectives a).To improve reading and writing abilities. b).To develop the ability of summarizing. Emotional attitudes and moral values a).To develop the spirit of never giving up b).To know more about geography and nature. 3.Teaching important and difficult points a).The important point is using the reading strategies while reading and get the ideas b).The difficult points are to retell and summary. 4.The analysis of students For grade 8 students, they have mastered enough knowledge both in vocabulary and reading skills, it’ll be helpful for them to understand the passage. Part II.Teaching procedures Step 1:Warming-up Talk about the tops of china and the world 设计意图:通过复习中国和世界之最,进行课前热身。 Step 2 :Leading-in T: Watch a video:Everest Do you know what the mountain is Have you ever heard this mountain Now I want to know something about the mountain. You can discuss these questions with your partner and then show your answers to us. ①.What is the mountain ②How high is the mountain ③.Is it dangerous to climb the mountain .What do you know about the mountain Ss:It’s Qomolangma. It’s 8,844.43 meters high. I think it dangerous to climb the mountain. In order to reach the top, the climbers will risk their lives. It’s very high. On the top, it’s very cold. It’s hard to breathe…… T:Yes. You know a lot about the mountain.
