Ability aims: Practice students’ listening ability and teach them how to summarize a passage. Emotional aims: Ask students to work with others and develop their teamwork spirit. Teaching methods: Individual practice; Group activities. Important points and difficult points: 1.choice: If you have a choice ,you can choose between several things. e.g.: He has to make some important choices. E.g.:We had no choice but to destroy the animal. 2.pieriod: (1)a particular length of time with a beginning and an end. Teaching procedure: Step1: Greeting. Step2:Warming up (1)Show a video and ask students who is the animals' PE teacher (2)Talk about our teachers. (3)Summarize the words to describe someone. Step3: New items. (1) Learn some new words about the passage. (2) Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks (3) Listen again and choose the right answer. (4) review some important phrases in the passage. (5) Summarize the important expressions. Step4: conclusion Step5:Homework. Instructional objectives 1) recycle name of subjects and adjectives to describe a person(especially teachers); 2) skim to summarize the main idea of each paragraph with the help of key words; 3) scan to find out how the writer convince us when he describes his new teachers; 4) make an outline(mind-map) of the composition themed “my favorite teacher”; 5) develop four skills, mainly reading (skimming; scanning) & writing(how to make your description vivid and convincing). 2. Educational objectives 1) respect, appreciate and love their teachers from the bottom of their hearts; 2) learn to cooperate with others through group works & pair works; 3) express themselves confidently; 4) study independently through previewing, reviewing and self-checking and so on.
