Mount Qomolangma “Grows” 珠峰新高度揭晓！ Mount Qomolangma, the world's highest mountain, is located on the border (边界) between China and Nepal. It is very famous and lots of mountain climbers go there every year. Recently, China and Nepal announced (宣布) that Mount Qomolangma has grown taller. It now has a new height of 8,848.86 meters, including the height of the snowcap of the mountain. A Nepalese team of climbers and surveyors reached the top of Qomolangma in May 2019. A Chinese survey team got there on May 27, 2020 and remeasured the height of the peak (顶峰). The team stayed on the top for two and a half hours. That was a new record for Chinese climbers. Scientists say that in fact Mount Qomolangma is growing all the time, by about half a meter every 100 years. This is caused by the movement of tectonic plates (地壳构造板块).
