Teaching Material (PPT) This lesson is from Learning English, Book6 unit 2 Lesson 10 Exercise. It’s a discourse teaching. In this lesson, Mr.Wood Danny and Jenny get together to talk about exercise. Because it is the fourth class in this Unit, before this lesson, the students have learned a lot about health. They have contacted with the key words. This is the context for this lesson. Student analysis (PPT) Secondly, it is about the students. Our students are in Grade 6, they are active and curious, interested in new things. After learning English for three more years, they have already known about their favourite colours, food and clothes, they have learnt verb phrase. It is not difficult for them to understand and use the language, the teacher should provide them more chances of using language. So, I set the following aims. Teaching aims 一、 The first one is knowledge aims . 1. Students will be able to aurally understand, orally use, recognize and spell the following vocabulary: exercise, minute, hour 二、Students will be able to recognize understand and use these questions: How many minutes does Danny exercise How many minutes do you… The second one is ability aims 1. Learn about the typical activities for exercise. 2. Train the Ss’ ability of active thinking and communication. 3. The third one is moral aims . Students should understand and be able to tell you why exercise is important all during one’s life. Teaching methods In order to achieve the teaching aims, I adopt student-centered teaching method, situational method and communicative method. Leaning strategies: In this lesson, leaning strategies is to actively use English to communicate with others in and out of class. To establish relations among relevant knowledge by way of observation. Key points Key points include two points. Students will be able to recognize understand and use these questions: How many minutes does Danny exercise How many minutes do you… The second one is to express various forms of exercise what they can do. Difficulty The difficulty is: be able to talk about various forms of exercise using English words and expressions. Teaching aids Then teaching aids, I’ll use recordings, pictures and a computer to teach in the lesson. Teaching procedure The important part in my speaking is teaching procedure. I divide the teaching procedure into five steps. Step1.warming up With the greeting, the students will feel the beginning of the lesson. It’s important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss. At the beginning we say hello with each other and talk about some the phrase about exercise in English. Then we will play a game. This game will help the students review the verb phrase. Step II Presentation. The second step is presentation. ... ...
