Module: Relationships Unit: Caring for others Task 4 Playing a matching game Task description In groups, pupils take turns to turn over a picture card and a note card. When a matching picture card and a note card are turned over, they tell their group who they helped and how they helped them. If they can make correct sentences, they keep the pair of cards. The pupil with the most pairs of cards at the end is the winner. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task. Divide the class into groups of four. Give each group a set of pictures and notes. Ask pupils to put the pictures and the notes face down on their desk. Pupils then take turns to turn over a picture and a note. When a picture and a note match, they tell their group who they helped and how, according to what is written on the note. If they make correct sentences, they keep the pair of cards. Pupils keep playing until there are no more notes left. The pupil with the most pairs of cards is the winner. More able pupils could write a note or notes to reply to the person(s) on the notes they have collected. They tell them what they have done. Get into groups of four. Turn over a picture card and a note card. If the picture card matches the note card, make a sentence about who you helped and how. ( The picture card and the note card don’t match.
