Longman Welcome to English Gold 3B – Chapters 3 and 4 B. Board game (Walk, walked) Aim: To revise the past tense form of verbs Description of the game: Pupils play a board game in groups. They need to say the past tense form of the verbs their counters land on. You will need: 1. Enough copies of the game sheet and the answer sheet for each group in the class 2. A dice for each group Steps: 1. Revise the present and past tense forms of the verbs in LWTE 3B Chapters 3 and 4 with the class before the game. Divide the class into small groups (4–5 pupils in a group). Ask each group to elect a leader. The group leaders will be responsible for checking the answers. Give each group a game sheet, an answer sheet and a dice. Pupils use their own erasers as counters. The group leaders can look at the answers on the answer sheet. Remind them not to show the answers to the players. 4. Pupils take turns to throw the dice. The number tells them how far they may move their counters. 5. If the pupils’ counters land on a verb, they should read out the base form of the verb and then say the past tense form, e.g. Walk, walked. 6. They can move their counters to the square indicated by the arrow if they say the correct words. 7. The pupil who reaches the ‘End’ square first wins.
