Greeting: How are you What’s the date today What day is it today What is the weather like today 2. Watch a video of a helpful dog. The dog does a lot of housework. 3. Ask the students: Do you like the dog Why The dog is helpful. Do you want to be helpful Lead in the title, Unit 5 Being Helpful. Step two Presentation 1. Show a picture of Candy and her mother. 2. Show a picture of Sunday. Ask the students: It is Sunday today. Candy and her mother are at home. What can they do 3. Show a picture of a dark house. The teacher says: The house is so dark. I cannot see it. What can I do 4. Guide the students look for and say out: turn on the light. 5. Teacher uses PPT to teach “turn on the light”. Mom says: Can you ….. 6. Students fill the blank and say out “turn on the light” 7. Teacher asks: “What will Candy say ”. List out the answer: Sure. I’ll do it right now. 8. Practice with the whole class. Role play. Teacher plays the role of Candy and the whole class plays the role of mom. And then exchange. 9. Enlarge the vocabulary. Guide the students to come up with some more words. “turn on the TV; turn on the computer.” 10. Use the same to teacher the rest words. “turn off the TV; take out the trash; clean up the room” Step Three Practice and game Game 1: Stand-up Game 1. Teacher shows the new words to the class, read once. Teacher shows them randomly to the class and students race who is the fastest. 2. After that, teacher doesn’t show the new words but the pictures. Students still race in the same way. Practice: students use the words on PPT and make dialogue in pairs. Game 2: Lucky Game Students in a group get a pile of cards. They pick the cards and use the words to make dialogues. Anyone who picks the lucky card can get someone’s cards. Step Four Presentation Students got a paper of role play. First fill in the blank and then role play in pairs. Invite two pairs of students to the front and present. Step Five Set Homework Copy the new words and make sentences with new words Summary 1. What did we learn today 2. Ask Ss to review the words and sentences. 3. What can we do for our parents 1. Review the words and target languages. 2.
