Module: Happy days Unit: Festivals and holidays Task 6 Choosing an invitation Task description In pairs, pupils talk about two given invitations – to a picnic and to a boat trip. Then they choose to go on either the picnic or the boat trip. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task. Pupils get into pairs. Give Pupils A the invitation on Copymaster 1 and Pupils B the invitation on Copymaster 2. They talk with their partner about the invitations. They choose one of the invitations. They ask and answer questions about the picnic or boat trip. More able pupils could design and write their own invitation card and read it aloud to the class. Get into pairs. Look at the invitations. Choose an invitation with your partner. Example ( What will we do if … ) ( Yes, I’d like to. When’s … ) ( Would you like to go on the … ) ( Yes, I do. ) ( I have an invitation for … Do you like … ) ( It’s on … ) ( … ) ( … ) ( We’ll … ) ( 1 ) ( 6 )Invitation for Pupil A Sam’s picnic at Sunshine Country Park Come to Sam’s picnic! Date : 1st October Meet at : Greenwood station Meet at : 11:00 a.m. Picnic ends at : 4:00 p.m. We will hike, eat and drink and play games. Note: If it rains, we will cancel the picnic. Invitation for Pupil B Lily’s boat trip to White Sand Island Lily would like to invite you to go on a boat trip to White Sand Island Date : 1st October Meet at : Central Pier Boat leaves at : 9:15 a.m. Boat returns at : 4:30 p.m. We will swim, watch dolphins and have lunch on the boat.
