M7 U2 Alice was thinking about her cat. Analysis of the Teaching Material The theme of this module is "story". The text in this unit is a reading material about a famous story from Britain - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Through the reading material, students know the first chapter of the story. Students also learn about what elements should be contain in a story. It helps students to directly learn something about western culture through the famous western story. What: This unit is about the story Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Why:The intention of this unit is to teach students how to write a story concluding who, where, when, what, why, and how. Meanwhile, students are able to learn some lessons from the story. How: This unit is a story made up of 3 paragraphs. It tells why and how Alice went to the Wonderland and shared the adventures of Alice in the Wonderland with many strange people and animals. Teaching Aims By the end of this class, students will be able to: Read stories containing continuous tense and know the order of the events of the story. Retell or make up endings for stories. Tell a story by themselves. Teaching Procedure Objectives Activities Assessment Pre-reading Play the theme song of Alice in Wonderland and ask students to fill in the blanks in the lyrics. Show students the pictures of the main characters in the story. Play the first part of the movie Alice in Wonderland. Arouse students’ interest in learning the story. Guide them to know the characters clearly. While-reading Ask students to number the events in the order they happened. Meanwhile guide students how to read by telling them relevant reading tips.
