Why do many countries advocate green transportation The urban traffic problem is outstanding. The air pollution is becoming more and more serious. How to make the development of transportation system in line with the future, environmental protection is one of the key points. Culture Understanding Part 2 Natural Disasters Cultural Understanding Global concern about natural disasters is probably at an all-time high. Countries around the world have realized the importance of change from a fossil fuel-driven(化石燃料驱动的) economy to a sustainable and green one. One area that needs to change is transportation. The road transport model is also becoming a serious problem: private cars powered by petrol lead to air pollution, traffic jam and noise. A growing number of countries have set targets for electric vehicle sales. The UK and France want all new cars to be electric and produce zero emissions(排放) by 2040. Cultural Understanding Two countries are leading the way when it comes to electric cars and hybrids(混合动力汽车). One is Norway, where more than half of the new cars sold fall into these categories. The other is China, which leads the world in electric vehicle sales and whose market keeps growing. Electric Cars It is not only vehicles that are going electric. Norway plans to use electric planes for all short flights of 1.5 hours or less. Avinor, the public operator of Norwegian airports, is planning to test an electric-powered plane in 2025. Airbus, Rolls Royce and Siemens are working together to develop a hybrid model which may make its first flight soon.
