To promote students’ cultural confidence by introducing historic sites in Beijing and in their local cities. 教学难点: To help students identify the historic sites of similar architecture style in London. To help students understand the introduction to these historic sites in London. To enable students introduce historic sites in their local cities. 教学过程 Activity 1: Activating background information about London. (本活动为实现教学目标1作铺垫。) Talk about the UK and London. Q1: What have you learnt about the UK from the previous reading lesson Q2: What is the capital of the UK What do you know about the city Activity 2: Learning brief introduction to London. (本活动旨在落实教学目标1) Read the introduction to London and share impression. Match the place names with the photos from the video. Q: Have you been to London Can you recognize the following sites Activity 3: Getting basic information about the historic sites in London. (本活动旨在落实教学目标1。) Complete the sentences after watching the video. Q: What historic place would you like to visit Why Activity 4: Analyzing the charm of London and understanding the importance of long history to a city. (本活动旨在落实教学目标2。) Watch the first part of the video again and answer the following questions: Q1: What did Samuel Johnson say about London Q2: What makes a London a great city to walk in Q3: Why are there so many things to see in London Appreciate a quote from Marcus Garvey. “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.” Activity 5: learning to talk about historic sites in local cities. (本活动旨在落实教学目标3。) Read introduction to historic sites in Beijing. Analyze the procedures of making videos. Learn useful sentence patterns.
