Important points: The structure and contents of a job advertisement. Difficult points: How to write a job advertisement. Teaching procedures: Step 1. Lead in Teacher’s activity: 1. Ask a question “What is your ideal job to get the students’ interest for the class. 2. Lead the new lesson by reviewing an exercise “clown doctors wanted “in this book on page5. Ask one student to read the description , another student guess what it is . Students’ activity: 1.Talk about their ideal job to get familiar with the topic “jobs”. 2.Read the material “clown doctor wanted “ and guess what it is (job advertisement) . Step 2. Observing and thinking Teacher’s activity: 1. Show 4 different job advertisements on the PPT. 2. Ask students to observe and think what is a job advertisement, and what does it look like 3.Read the last job advertisement and answer the questions. Students’ activity: 1.Observe the job advertisement to see what does it look like. 2. Think about what is a job advertisement and share the answer with classmates. 3. Read the job advertisement and answer the questions. Step 3. Prewriting Summarize the structure and content of job advertisement Teacher’s activity: 1.Ask students to summarize the common structure and contents of the 4 job advertisements. 2. Write down the structure and content in the blackboard. 3. Replenish the content if students couldn’t make it. 4. Offer some writing tips. Students’ activity: 1.Observe the four job advertisements to summarize the common structure and content in pairs . 2.Share their discoveries from the four job advertisements. 3.Replenish the content if they could. Step 4. while-writing Reading, discussing and writing Teacher’s activity: 1.Divide the students into three big groups. 2.Ask students to read what the three people say about their jobs and then choose one of the jobs and complete the notes. 3.Ask students to write at least one key job advertisement with the notes in groups.They can try all the 3 ones if they could. 4.Walk around the classroom to offer help. Students’ activity: 1.Read what the three people say about their jobs. 2.Choose one of the jobs and complete the notes in groups. 3.Discuss in groups to write a job advertisement with the notes. 4.Share their ideas together to polish their writing. 5.Time permitting, finish the other two job advertisements. Step 5. Post-writing presentation Teacher’s activity: 1.Ask each group of students to choose a representative to give the presentation. 2.Give comments and applause to each group who comes to the platform.
