He lived a long life, passing away in 2005, but his stories still make many people happy and think deeply today. Ba Jin was from Chengdu in Sichuan, China, but his family came from Jiaxing in Zhejiang. When he was a young man, he went to France to learn and see the world. He loved reading books from different countries and decided to share these wonderful stories with others in China. One of his most famous sets of books is called the Turbulence Trilogy, which includes Family, Spring, and Autumn. These books are like a big family saga, telling the story of a Chinese family going through many changes, just like China was going through big changes during that time. Another set of books he wrote is called the Love Trilogy, with Fog, Rain, and Electricity. These stories are about love and how it can be both beautiful and challenging. What’s really cool about Ba Jin is that he didn’t just write his own stories. He also loved translating books from other languages like English, French, Russian, and Japanese, so that more people in China could enjoy them too. He translated works from great writers like Gogol, Turgenev, and Tolstoy. Ba Jin was a very brave writer. He wrote about things that were important and sometimes even might cause trouble to him. He believed in freedom, equality (平等), and love for all people, and he wanted to make the world a better place through his writing. Today, many people remember Ba Jin as a great storyteller and a kind-hearted person. His books are still read in schools and loved by kids and grown-ups alike. Ba Jin’s stories and ideas continue to inspire and teach us to care about the world and to care for each other. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
