Unit 2 Morals and Virtues Reading and Thinking教学设计 I. Teaching Goals To help students understand the text thoroughly and improve their reading comprehension skills. To enable students to analyze the moral and virtues presented in the text. To enhance students' ability to express their own views on morals and virtues. To promote students' critical thinking and group discussion skills. II. Teaching Key Points Comprehension of the detailed information in the text. Understanding the significance of the moral and virtues demonstrated by the main character. III. Teaching Difficulties Helping students to deeply understand the abstract concepts of morals and virtues. Encouraging students to make connections between the text and real life. IV. Teaching Methods Pre-reading activities to activate background knowledge. Guided reading with questions and tasks. Group discussions and presentations. V. Teaching Procedure Pre-reading (15 minutes) Show some pictures or short videos related to famous people with remarkable moral and virtues. Ask students to share what they know about these people and what qualities they possess. Have a brief discussion about the importance of moral and virtues in society. While-reading (45 minutes) Students read the text silently. Then, ask them some basic comprehension questions to check their understanding. Guide students to analyze the text paragraph by paragraph. For example: "What did Lin Qiaozhi do in this part that reflects her moral and virtues " Highlight some key expressions and language points related to the theme. Encourage students to raise questions and discuss them together. Post-reading (30 minutes) Divide students into groups. Each group is assigned a specific moral or virtue from the text and asked to discuss how it is manifested in the story and its significance. Each group presents their findings and discussions to the whole class. Initiate a class-wide discussion on whether these moral and virtues are still relevant in today's world and how we can apply them in our daily lives. Summary and Assignment (10 minutes) Summarize the main points discussed in class. Assign students to write a short essay about a person they admire who embodies certain moral and virtues, and explain why. In the classroom, actively encourage students to participate in discussions, ask questions, and share their thoughts. Use examples and real-life situations to make the concepts of moral and virtues more relatable. Provide sufficient time for students to process and internalize the information. Continuously monitor and guide students' learning process to ensure they achieve the teaching goals.
