Warm-up Group discussion: The following are some possible negative effects of modern technology. Which one do you agree with Why II. Listening: Learning about Americans are Worried about New Technology (Report) Take notes while listening. Step 1: Ask students to predict the topic “Americans are worried about New Technology” Step 2: Ask students to listen to the first paragraph of the news report and write down the main concern. Step 3: Ask students to listen to rest of part of the news report and fill in the blanks. III. Group Activity: Discuss the question Discuss the question Jobs: lorry drivers, taxi drivers, hotel workers, lawyers, factory workers, delivery man, accountant, interpreter … □ Do repetitive work □ Easy to control □ Clearly define the process which can be programmed by computer IV. Viewing: VR Technology (Documentary clip) Step 1: Invite the students to predict the content of viewing material based on the given picture. Step 2: Invite the students to share their knowledge about VR and give opinions on this technology. Step 3: Watch the video. Finish the exercise and find out what the elderly people can do again with the help of VR. V. Homework Required: 1. Read the Culture Link “The Amish People and Technology” and answer the following questions: 1) How do they select to use the modern technology 2) Why are they highly selective in the way they use technology 3)Why more technology use are permitted in recent years Be prepared to share your ideas in the next period. 2. Write 5-8 sentences to express your ideas of the development of modern technology.(
