    Teaching Plan for Book 1 Unit 2 English around the world Writing By YangPing from Shayang Senior High School Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge aims: ⑴ Students are able to brainstorm creative ideas ⑵ Students are able to make a poster (also an outline). ⑶ Students are able to use some connecting words and sentences. 2. Ability aims: ⑴ Students are able to collect useful ideas and sentences by using the brainstorming way or making a poster. ⑵ Students are able to arrange ideas and sentences collected properly into an article or passage. 3. Emotional aim: Students are able to master writing skills and write excellent articles. Teaching important point: Students are able to make a brainstorming map and a poster and write a short passage based on the poster. Teaching difficult point: Students are able to use connecting words or sentences properly to arrange sentences correctly. Teaching methods: Brainstorming, cooperative-learning and task-based?language?teaching? Teaching tools: Multimedia, blackboard, and other normal teaching tools. Teaching procedures Step 1 Revision 1. Check the homework exercises. 2. Get two pairs of students to make dialogues about asking directions using requests. Step 2 Presentation Summarize the brainstorming way of preparing oneself before writing. Students are asked to brainstorm on this topic in groups, and also the teacher writes the topic question “Why should I learn English?” on the blackboard. After a few minutes, the teacher collects the students’ ideas together. The students’ ideas may vary from one to another, and they are encouraged to brainstorm more creative ideas. After that, they are asked to show their ideas on a brainstorming map (show the map on the screen) Purpose of my design: to prepare students what they want to say before they begin to write. Step 3 Making a poster Based on the brainstorming map, students are required to try to write a poster (also an outline) including the topic sentences, and then the teacher presents a sample poster to help them reflect their own posters. A sample Why should we learn English? to do business to watch American movies to read English books to listen to English songs to go to better colleges English is so useful to us that we should learn it and make good use of it. Purpose of my design: to make it easier and clearer for students to write an excellent article. Step 4 Writing a short passage 1. Write a three-paragraph article titled “Why should we learn English? ” 2. Show the structure on how to write the passage. 1) State your points of view. 2) Show the supporting reasons. 3) Get a conclusion 3. Show the students connecting words which can help them to join the sentences and paragraphs. Illustration: I think. . . , I believe. . . , In my opinion. . . , As far as I am concerned. . .
