
A Teaching Design of Unit 9 A Learning Reflection Writing Workshop Period 1 Teaching material:Book 3,Unit 9,Writing workshop Analysis of the teaching material: The writing workshop is designed to read a learning reflection on Lesson 3 in Unit 9 and then write one by the students themselves.So students should firstly review the text in Lesson 3,which we finished in the previous classes.Then because this is the first time for them to read a learning reflection,they need to be guided to find out what a learning reflection should be like.This class, they'll read the learning reflection to identify and summarize its structure,content and language. While reading,the students will be encouraged to summarize the writing tips of a learning reflection,because in this class,reading is for the purpose of writing. Analysis of the students: Although it is the first time for the students to read a learning reflection,it will not be very difficult for them to find the structure,content and language of the passage since the text is not long and it is clear and well-written.By finishing different kinds of pre-reading,while-reading and post-reading tasks,the students will be able to understand the text better and summarize the writing tips easily.It will also not be difficult for them to find the use of addition linkers to get the sentences and paragraphs related to each other Core competences: Language ability:Help the students read and understand the learning reflection and summarize its key elements. Cultural consciousness:Help the students find out they can learn how to be a useful person to the family and then to the country in many ways,like reading a book,listening to a song or watching a movie. At the same time,they can learn many virtues from ancient Chinese people in history, like from Mulan. Thinking capacity 1.There are differences in people's memory or ability,but anyway nobody can succeed easily. Students should make full use of their time and opportunity. 2.Living a life is just like learning a passage.You should learn,feel,think and make changes. After reading a learning reflection and watching a video in which Mulan reflects on her own life, students can also think about how they can live a well-organized life.
