Language Competence Students are able to 1) read about the function of body language and its implications in different cultures. 2) know the features of expository essay and the way to illustrate something. 3) learn the following words and expressions: Interaction vary approve cheek bow anger 2. Learning Ability Students are able to improve the ability to express their thoughts with body language. use some reading strategies such as prediction, skimming and scanning. 3. Cultural Conciousness Students are able to compare the similarity and difference of body language in different culture contexts. Realize the importance of body language in cross-cultural communication. 4. Thinking Ability Students are able to 1) conclude the key word independently. 2) develop the critical thinking, radiant thinking and logical thinking. 3) enhance the ability to express with body language. 教学重难点 教学重点: Students can use different reading strategies while reading. 教学难点: 1.Students can develop the critical thinking, radiant thinking and logical thinking. 2.students can realize the importance of body language in cross-cultural communication. 教学方法 1. Task-based Language Teaching 2. P-W-P reading model 3. Top-down reading model 教学过程 StepⅠ:Lead-in Activity 1:Warming-up Look at the opening page and discuss the following question. What language am I speaking What other kinds of language do you know [Designing purpose]To activate students’ background information of this topic, and arouse their interest to the topic. StepⅡ: Pre-reading Activity 2: Question & video Look at the picture and think of the questions. (1) What's the function of language (2)Suppose we are living in a silent world. How will you communicate with each other 2. Watch a video about body language. Activity 3: Play a game Invite some students to play the game. Try their best to guess the meaning of the body language. [Designing purpose]Activate students’ knowledge of body language; inspire their interest to discover more expression about body language.By watching the video, students can be familiar with the body language. It can also arouse students’ interest about this topic. StepⅢ: While-reading Activity 4:Skimming&Scanning Skimming Go through the whole text and try to find out the topic sentence of each paragraph.
