Do you feel comfortable when talking to others 当你和别人交谈时，你感觉舒服吗？ when talking to others是带从属连词的-ing形式，在句中作状语，这时-ing形式的逻辑主语通常是主句的主语。这种状语可以转化为状语从句。 I met an old friend while walking in the street. = I met an old friend while I was walking in the street. 我在街道上散步时遇到了一位老朋友。 2. Have you ever found it hard to make new friends 你曾经发现交新朋友很难吗？ 此处it在句中作形式宾语，真正的宾语是动词不定式短语to make new friends。 I think it easy to learn English well. 我发现学好英语很容易。 3. Make a great effort to do this when you first meet someone new. 当你第一次与某个新人见面时，极力做到这一点。 (1) make an effort意为“努力”，make an/ the effort to do sth.表示“努力做某事” 。 People who don't make an effort won't succeed. 不努力的人不会成功。 (2) first此处作副词，意为“第一次；首次”。 I frist saw her three years ago. 三年前我第一次见到她。 4. Make sure you smile and greet others in a friendly way, especially the first time you meet them. 你务必要微笑和使用一种友好的方式向别人问候，尤其是你第一次遇到他们的时候。 make sure意为“确保；务必”，后接宾语从句。 Make sure they won't make the same mistake. 保证他们不会再犯同样的错误。 5. No one wants to waste time talking to someone who is not honest. 没人想浪费时间跟不诚实的人交谈。 waste time doing sth.意为“浪费时间做某事”。 waste time on sth.表示“在某方面浪费时间”。 They wasted much time waiting. 他们白白浪费了很多时间等待。 Don't waste time on nothing. 不要无所事事。 6. keep your promises. 遵守诺言。 (1) keep的觉见用法 ①keep +名词 keep one's promise遵守诺言 ②keep (on) doing sth. 一直做某事；反复做某事 The boy kept asking questions. 那个男孩一直问问题。 ③keep sb. doing sth. 让某人一直做某事 Don't keep them waiting for long. 不要让他们等很长时间。 ④keep +形容词 It's important for you to keep healthy. 对你们来说保持健康很重要。 ⑤keep sb. from doing sth.阻止某人做某事 Teenagers should be kept from smoking. 应该阻止青少年吸烟。 (2) promise的觉见用法 ①promise作名词，意为“承诺；许诺”。 keep one's promise遵守诺言 make a promise许下诺言 ②promise作动词，意为“承诺；许诺”。 promise to do sth.意为“承诺做某事”。 My father promised to buy a new bike for me. 我父亲答应给我买一辆新自行车。 7.
