Have students read the quote from Bill Gates and answer the following questions. What kind of technology is the most important to you How do you use it I think the most important technology to me is the Internet. I greatly depend on it to get information and communicate with others. Also, devices like computers, smartphones and even some smartwatches now have access to the Internet. These devices allow me to get online from anywhere and at anytime. They are truly a critical part of my daily life. 2. Have students watch the video and fill in the blanks on page 43. The Moon; computers 3. Have students watch the video again and answer the following questions. (1) Have you read or watched any of the science fiction works mentioned in the video What is your understanding of it I have watched The Matrix. The idea of connecting a human brain to a computer is both exciting and frightening. I like the part when the main character realizes that he is “the one” and takes the responsibility to save humanity. Although this technology is not yet a reality, I feel like we are getting closer to it. I hope I can get to experience living in a virtual world. (2) Why do you think people like to imagine the future 批 注 The future always looks promising for most people. Imagining what the future will be like may encourage people to work harder to turn their fantasies into reality. Imagining what the future could be like also helps us progress as a species. 4. It is said that the man who invented the first mobile phone in the 1970s directly credited the TV series for inspiring him. In 1964, Isaac Asimov, a well-known science fiction author, wrote an article predicting what inventions would be on display in the future. He predicted vehicles with “robot-brains”, which would be capable of self-driving.
