Learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. master the following core vocabulary: awe; civilization; preserve; urgent; wear down; ruin; incredible; violence; conflict; outcome; specialist; assess; collapse; suspend; 2. understand the core vocabulary in the text; 3. use the core vocabulary in new situations; 4. analyse some complex sentences in the text. Understand some complex sentences in the text. IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Revising the lecture transcript T: Now read through the lecture transcript carefully and complete the article. Many natural wonders and human civilization are (1)_____ (fascinate) but in danger so that UNESCO (2)_____ (struggle) to preserve them since its establishment. Heritage sites face threats (3)_____ nature and human activities. They can (4)_____ (wear) down gradually by the long-term natural forces like wind, water and temperature.
