Talk about what advice they would give if someone has a certain problem. T:Class,my friend Chen Lei is addicted to playing computer games.Can you help me to give him some advice S1:I suggest that he should ask his parents or teachers for help. S2:I think taking part in some interesting after-class activities is a good idea. 2. Collect more sentence patterns and expressions related to giving advice. (设计意图:导入环节以学生视角来设置贴近中学生生活的问题,学生乐于给出他们自己的建议帮助他人解决问题,自然导入本节课的目标-给建议。) Step II Reading the letter Activity 1 Reading for details. 1.What is Worried Friend's problem 2. What do you think of Susan Luo (设计意图:通过提炼文中有用的信息,引导学生深度思考,概括文中人物的性格特点。) Suggested answers: 1.Worried Friend is worried that his or her friend,Chen Lei,plays computer games too often and spends too much time online. 2.Perhaps Chen Lei is anxious because he spends too much time online and can't focus on other things in life. He is unhealthy because he is addicted to the Internet and cannot concentrate on school and family life. 3.She recommends that Worried Friend talk to Chen Lei and encourage him to try new hobbies. 4.She is friendly,considerate,helpful and responsible because she gives useful and practical advice. Activity 2 Reading for thinking. Work in groups and talk about the questions. 1. Do you think Ms Luo's advice is useful Why or why not 2.
