Unit 2 Great people 单元语篇阅读20篇--2024-2025学年九年级英语下册重点题型精准练 牛津译林版 一、阅读理解 Difference and failure are often the forces that drive craftsmen to create perfection. That was what encouraged He Xirui, a famous craftsman. Working with wood during his whole life, He Xirui started out producing high-quality (高品质) traditional Chinese instruments to serve local music and dance groups. His instruments quickly became popular, and he wanted to improve his knowledge and skills. In 1979, he tried to make a classical (古典的) Western instrument, the violin. After months of hard work, his violin was finished. To test his violin, he compared it with a European violin. He noticed the difference in quality. “The sound of my violin made such a world of difference compared with this one,” he said after hearing the sounds of the two instruments. In 2003, he finally achieved his goal and created the San-yuan violin, a violin that can play three ranges (音域) . To give his work a Chinese style, he drew a ruyi (a traditional Chinese symbol of good luck) on each violin. His success in creating the San-yuan violin led him to become a university teacher. This provided him the chance to pass on his experiences and encourage more craftsmen in search of perfection. His story shows a special relationship between a craftsman and his work that values quality above all else.
