Because of the success of tourism, the population and number of enterprises also rose, meaning there was more waste going into the river. 2. What measures have been taken to improve the LI River’s water quality Waste water treatment, household waste collection and transport facilities have been improved. Dozens of polluting businesses were moved or closed. New rules about waste disposal and fines for abusers were introduced. Authorities used the media to spread awareness of the issue. 3.
