Late one afternoon I happened to see my old schoolteacher. She would like to get one puppy for her grandson. I told her all the puppies had found homes, but if someone changed their mind, I would let her know. Within days, all but one of the puppies had been picked up by their new families. This left me with a brown one as well as the smaller puppy. Two days passed without me hearing anything from the gentleman who had promised the brown puppy. I telephoned the schoolteacher and told her I had one puppy left. She said that they would come over at about eight o’clock. That night at around seven thirty, we heard a knock on the front door. The man who had wanted the brown puppy came and took the brown puppy.
