Grammar 表语从句--Predictive Clauses 表语从句 一、定义： 复合句中用作表语的从句叫作表语从句。 二、构成： 表语从句位于主句中的连系动词之后，通常由引导词加简单句构成，即“主语+系动词+表语从句（引导词+简单句） 种类 关联词 例句 表 语 从 句 从属连词 that,whether, as if, because, though等 The reason is that he got up late.原因是他起晚了。 It looks as if it is going to rain.看起来天要下雨。 连接代词 who, what, whcih That’s just what I want.这是我想要的。 The problem is who is fit for the job.问题是谁适合这份工作。 连接副词 when, where,why,how That was when I was young.那是我很小。 That’s why he didn’t come.那就是他没来的原因。 注意： 1.that，whether引导的表语从句在表语从句中，that 无词义，一般不能省略: whether 意为“是否”。这时主句的主语常常是些抽象名词,如 question(问题),trouble(麻烦)problem(问题),result(结果),chance(可能性),suggestion(建议),idea(想法),reason(理由)等。表语从句对主句主语进行说明、解释使主语的内容具体化。 2.as if / though引导的表语从句,有时要用虚拟语气。 如果从句与事实不符，从句多用虚拟语气。当从句所表示的与现实相反，从句用一般过去时（be动词用were);当从句表示与过去事实相反时，从句用过去完成时；当从句表将来的可能性不大时，从句谓语动词用“would/might/could+动词原形”。 He acts as if he knew me. 他表现得好像认识我似的。 They behaved as if nothing had happened. 他们表现得若无其事。 3.because，why引导的表语从句 This/That is why...这/那是……的原因 This/That is because...这/那是因为…… 4.连接代词和连接副词引导表语从句时既充当句子成分又有具体词义,且不可省略。 5.表语从句要用陈述句语序。 6. if 不能引导表语从句，只能用whether 来引导。 7.what在表语从句中充当主语，宾语或表语表示什么,什么样子,或所……的(人或事)。 The question is what caused the accident.问题是什么原因造成了这次事故。 That mountain is no longer what it used to be. 那座山已经不再是原来的样子了。 8.当主语是the reason时，表语从句引导词不用because，要用that He is so fat , because he eats too much. （状语从句） The reason is that he eats too much. The reason why he is so fat is that he eats too much.（定语从句+表语从句） 9.虚拟语气：一些表建议、要求、命令的名词做主语时，表语从句的谓语动词用虚拟语气：(should)+动原（advice, suggestion,proposal, recommendation/request, requirement ,demand /order,command ） eg.
