Alice Walker makes her living by writing.And her poems,short stories,and novels have won many prizes for her.She was born in Eatonton,Georgia.She went to public schools there, and then to college in Atlanta before coming to New York to attend another college,from which she graduated in 1960.For a time she lived in Jackson,Mississippi,with her lawyer husband and little daughter.Once she met with Langston Hughes,a great American poet.He promised that he would write a book for children someday.She was twenty-two years old that year.He was kind and gave Alice Walker a lot of books.His kind help gave her lots of courage and she was very thankful to him.So far,Alice Walker has written a number of books and become famous. 第8页，共8页
