Unit 8 Have you read Treasure Island yet 单元话题阅读理解练习 基础语篇巩固练 (23-24 八年级下·陕西西安·期中)The next day, I woke up with the sun on my face. I remembered that I was in a new island and decided to explore it. But as I tried to get up, I found that I couldn’t move at all. There were hundreds of strings (细绳) tied to every part of my hair and clothes. “What’s happening Who has tied me to the ground ” I asked myself. Then I felt something on my leg. It was moving up my leg and running on my body. I looked down and saw the most astonishing thing. A tiny man, no more than fifteen centimeters tall, was standing on my body! Then there was another and then another. Lots of tiny people were standing on me. “Hekinah degul,” the first one shouted. “Hekinah degul. Hekinah degul,” the other repeated after him. I was afraid and I shouted so loudly that they all went away fast. I then managed to free my left arm from the strings. But soon the tiny people came back. This time they had bows and arrows (弓箭) and I knew that they wanted to attack (攻击) me. “Tolgo phonac,” one of them shouted. Hundreds of tiny arrows stabbed (刺入) my hand. They were like needles (针). Then they moved to attack my face. I made a sign to show them that I surrendered (投降) and the arrows finally stopped. After staying still for a while, I felt quite hungry. I put my fingers slowly to my mouth to show that I wanted food. The tiny people seemed to understand and they brought me a lot to eat and drink, climbing up to my mouth using ladders. ——— Part of Gulliver’s Travels 1.What made the writer fail to change his place A.The tiny man on his leg.
