How do you like it W: Oh, I got sick and tired of hotels and the food. M: I can imagine. East or west, home is the best. Text 3 W: Excuse me, sir, I’m a reporter from the Albert Daily. Did the fire cause a lot of damage to the building M: Yes, the building was very badly damaged. W: Did anyone need to go to hospital M: Yes, 25. It’s a very big building and the idea is to have all employees in one place. But there are no fixed offices or desks for people. Only one person, the Managing Director, has a personal office. W: Do you like it M: Yeah. The important thing for me is that I get information very quickly. In the open office, I hear things which I can use in my work. That’s good. Text 7 W: My Australian friend came yesterday. M: Great. What’s her name W: Carol. M: What a nice name. What’s she like W: She is really nice. She’s fond of dancing. So am I, and we both like tennis and listening to music. M: That sounds great. I saw you with someone this morning. Was it Carol What does she look like W: She’s quite tall and slim and she’s got long brown hair. M: No, it wasn’t her then. Now we are all going out tomorrow, aren’t we Shall we go for our coffee or shall we go to the cinema What would she like to do W: Um, I’ll ask her tonight and tell you tomorrow. Text 8 M: Tina, have you heard that the new academic president George will be appointed this week W: Oh yeah, our campus radio announced that he’s starting a new programme at our university. We will get a chance to join local opera companies on their productions. M: I wonder how he got the idea. W: Well, he feels that practical experience is an important addition to the artistic training in the theatre. M: You mean we’ll get course credits for joining the opera companies practising performance W: Yeah, we’ll have to earn them by working hard with the companies. M: I’d like to ... ...
