7A U1 Integration "Meeting My New Friends" I. Objectives Listening Skills: Students can understand descriptions of people's appearance, character, and hobbies in the listening materials. Vocabulary & Phrases: Students master words and phrases like "long hair", "short hair", "shy", "quiet", "happy", "dancing", "swimming", etc. Oral Expression: Students can introduce friends using the learned vocabulary and sentence patterns. II. Teaching Aids Textbook Audio materials (for Part B) Pictures of Kitty and Amy Cards with key words and phrases III. Teaching Procedures 1. Warm up (5 minutes) Greet the students: "Good morning, class! How are you today " Play a guessing game. Describe a student in the class (e.g., "She has long hair. She is quiet. Who is she ") and let students guess. This helps review descriptive words. 2. Pre listening (10 minutes) Part A: Show pictures of Kitty and Amy. Ask students: "Look at these two girls. What do you think of them What’s their hair like Are they shy or happy " Let students read the introductions of Kitty and Amy in Part A silently. Then, guide them to circle the correct words in the table. Check the answers together. Part B: Introduce the background: "Millie is showing her mum a photo of her new class. Let's listen to their conversation." Ask students to predict the answers. For example, "What do you think Kitty is good at What about Amy " 3. While listening (15 minutes) First Listening: Play the audio for Part B. Ask students to listen carefully and get a general idea. Second Listening: Play the audio again. This time, ask students to complete the sentences in Part B. Walk around the classroom to provide help if needed. Check Answers: Play the audio once more. Stop at key parts and check the answers with the whole class. 4. Post listening (8 minutes) Role play: Divide students into pairs. Let them role play the conversation in Part B, with one student as Millie and the other as Millie's mum. Group Discussion: Ask students to talk about their own friends in groups.
