Knowledge Objectives Master key vocabulary for describing people’s appearance and personality outgoing, quiet, as well as the comparative degree of adjectives/adverbs. Ability Objectives Develop listening skills: Extract key information and grasp the main idea of listening texts. Improve oral communication skills: Use comparative degrees and descriptive vocabulary to talk about and compare people in pair work or class sharing. Affective & Attitudinal Objectives Stimulate interest in talking about personal experiences with friends, and cultivate willingness to share ideas in collaborative activities. Build confidence in using English to describe and compare people in daily scenarios. Teaching Key Points 1. Grasp the main idea of listening texts and extract specific information . 2. Master core vocabulary and target sentences for comparing people. 3. Accurately pronounce / / and / /, and identify their letter combinations. Teaching Difficulties 1. Correctly use the comparative degree of adjectives/adverbs ( irregular forms like “good→better”) to describe and compare people in real oral communication. 2. Efficiently extract key information from listening materials without missing details. Teaching Aids Pictures, a tape recorder, PowerPoint, and multimedia. Teaching Steps Step 1 Lead-in Ask students questions about friends. Invite them to share answers with partners or individually: - Do you have good friends - What does he/she look like - What is he/she like - What does he/she like or dislike - Are you the same or different Then lead into the topic: How are we different from each other Design Intent: Activate students' prior knowledge about friends, arouse their interest, connect the lesson to daily life, and lay a foundation for new content.
