Step 2: Presentation Play a game The teacher says some imperative sentences. Students do as the teacher says. Look and match Show four pictures and four sentences. Have students look and match them. Step 3: Presentation Have students find out five imperative sentences in the dialogue between Millie and Andy. Step 4: Exploring the rules Work out the rules according to the imperative sentences. Step 5: Practice Have students finish the exercises in A1 on P54. Step 6: Production Show three pictures about how to make potato stamps. Students imagine and describe the steps to make one. “Don’t pour so much paint.” means “You shouldn’t pour so much paint. You had better not pour so much paint.” Step 7: Presentation Have students find out some sentences on giving advice in the dialogue between Suzy and her mum. Step 8: Exploring the rules Work out the rule: had better (not) do sth. = should (not) do sth. Step 9: Production Have students discuss in pairs and give some advice on how to make potato stamps. Make a report about the advice. Step 10: Practice Have students finish the exercises in B1 on P55. Step11: Production Show some DIY pictures and have students talk about them in pairs about how to give instructions and advice. Make a report about the discussion. Step 12: Summary Have students summarize what they have learned in this class. Step 13: Homework 1. Finish the exercises on the worksheet. 2.
