They have mastered basic vocabulary and grammar knowledge and possess preliminary English reading ability, being able to understand general topic articles and obtain key information. However, they still encounter difficulties when reading texts with strong professionalism and complex cultural backgrounds. For instance, when it comes to English materials involving traditional Chinese culture, they find it hard to deeply understand the cultural connotations and artistic values and other profound contents. Students have a certain understanding of traditional Chinese culture, but mostly at a superficial level, lacking systematic and in-depth knowledge. Their ability to accurately and fluently express cultural-related content in English needs to be improved. Nevertheless, they are at a stage of intense curiosity and strong thirst for knowledge, being highly interested in new things.
