Look and share. Have Ss look at the theme picture on the opening page and talk about the questions on Page 1. Then invite some Ss to share their opinions. Guide Ss to draw the conclusion: The family is on vacation together. 2. Free talk. Ask Ss what they did during their summer holidays. The teacher can use following questions as prompts to start the discussion: Did you travel to any places Did you learn any new skills Did you meet any interesting people or do any fun things Did you read good books or watch any great movies The teacher can invite some Ss to share their experiences and write their activities on the blackboard. Teaching tips: During the process, the teacher should pay attention to the tense they use and lead them to use the simple past tense by repeating the description with the correct tense if they are wrong. Step 2. Pre-listening 1. 1a Have Ss read the activities in 1a and check if they grasp the meanings.
