After studying the reading texts, students will write a short article introducing their favorite subjects based on their real-life situations. The teaching texts consist of two practical writings about students’ favorite subjects. The first text focuses on Mike Davis’s favorite subject and the reasons behind it, while the second centers on Wu Binbin’s. Both texts use simple language, with no complex sentence structures or difficult vocabulary, making them suitable for middle school students’ English proficiency level. These texts are designed to present two students’ descriptions of their school subjects, favorite subjects, and the corresponding reasons. By learning these expressions, students can master the methods of describing their own favorite subjects, particularly how to correctly use and apply more advanced expressions. The reading texts can serve as writing models. Students can practice using the expressions from the two texts independently and deliver their own introductions —some sentence patterns for this task can be found in the text in 1b.
