课件网) Reading for Writing Unit 1 Cultural Heritage Write a news report What do you know about the Mogao Caves The Mogao Caves (莫高窟), also known as the Thousand Buddha Grottoes (千佛洞), form a system of 492 temples 25km (16 mi) southeast of the center of Dunhuang, an oasis(绿洲) strategically located at a religious and cultural crossroads on the Silk Road, in Gansu province, China. Mogao Caves is a group of ancient caves which were built in different dynasties. It is famous for exquisite（精美的）的murals(壁画)and various sculptures(建筑) kept inside the caves. With 735 caves, more than 45,000 square meters of murals, 2415 colored sculptures of different size, the caves contain some of the finest examples of Buddhist art (佛教艺术) spanning a period of 1,000 years. There is an increase in illegal hunting ,causing some of them are close to extinction. What we have done has threatened their living conditions.So ,we should take our responsibility to protect them immediately.First, The government can establish more nature reserves to provide a shelter for wildlife . Besides,The locol community can introduce advanced technology to promote protection process. Finally, We can deliver relevant speeches to raise people’s awareness. Let’s take actions from now on,only when we take some measures can wild animals be preserved.
