Have you got a new desk M: No, I’ve just moved it. I was getting too hot sitting under the window, so I put it over there opposite the door. Text 2 W: Just have a rest, man. You have been working here for two hours. M: I’d like to, but I’m busy making a plan for the new restaurant. I have to hand it in to our boss today. Text 3 M: I was thinking of having a holiday during the first half of September, but we can’t all be away at the same time. W: Don’t worry. I will go in August and Mike in July. You take the weeks you wanted. Text 4 W: Now, Mr Smith, you’ve just been operated on your stomach. Maybe you want to have a rest lying on the bed or sit still. But the best thing you should do is to get up and walk around right now. M: OK! I’ll do it, Mrs Black. Text 5 W: Was the school bus delayed again M: Well, someone said it was, but I wasn’t on it. I wanted to ride my bike this morning, but its brakes didn’t work. In the end, my dad had to drive me. Text 6 W: I’m trying a new workout and diet. I’ve increased my running and only eat chicken. M: So you don’t eat beef or fish W: No, I don’t. Just chicken. And I’m only drinking water. M: So you can’t have coffee or juice W: It is meant to clean my body. I know it sounds awful. M: It does not sound enjoyable. I like different foods for different tastes. W: So do I, but if I want to lose weight, I shouldn’t try different things. M: Then I will try and support you with it by not eating beef. Text 7 W: Hello, I’m calling about the dining table that you're selling. I noticed an advertisement online this morning. Is it still available M: Hi, yes, it is! I’m leaving my current apartment this weekend, and my new one is a lot smaller. I just won’t have enough space for it. W: That’s a shame. I’m definitely interested in buying it, but would you mind holding on to it for a few days I'd like to take a look at it later this week. M: Well, I’ve had calls all morning. And as I mentioned in the ad, I’d like to find a buyer before Friday. W: Oh, I understand. In that case, I’ll try to go over to your place with my friend this afternoon. Would you mind giving me your address Text 8 M: Hey, Jill. You’re a member of the debate club, right W: Yeah. Did you see the debate between Clare and Mark last night M: That’s what I was just about to ask you. It was such a heated debate. W: I know. I found Clare’s performance surprising because she’s always shy and quiet in our class. M: You said it. She just looks like a shining star when she’s in a debate. W: Exactly. Debating is a lot like acting in a theatre. You not only need to remember some difficult facts and figures, but also know when to say them. M: I agree. Do you know if someone filmed the debate Kevin was off sick and went to ... ...
