They get to try different things for themselves. “It’s been a fantastic experience so far,” says Eric. “I’ve learnt a bit of tai chi, and I really enjoy it. The teachers have introduced us to Chinese painting as well. The way of painting is very interesting. It’s quite different from what I’ve learnt in my art classes back home. We dip the brush in black ink, and paint on a special kind of paper, called Xuan paper. I haven’t had much success yet, but I’ll keep trying.” While-reading “I’ve made many new friends,” says Sarah. “I plan to keep in touch with them when I return home. We’ll see one another soon because they’ll come over to the UK for the second part of the exchange next month.
