My grandmother told me about her first pumpkin pie. When she was a college student in the US, she stayed with a host family. One year around Thanksgiving, the hostess taught her how to make a pumpkin pie. Many years later, she taught me how to make it too. My grandmother loved learning how to make food from other cultures. “It’s my way of making friends from around the world,” she said. Grandmother taught me the secret to cooking: Cook with love.
