They create things like cat models, making a lot of businesses interested. Last April, Chen Jian, a young artist from Shanghai, became popular online because he posted AI pictures of cats doing what humans do. One of his most famous posts showed a cat doing Baduanjin, a kind of Chinese exercise. That post got more than 160,000 likes! On a media platform (媒体平台), there are over 140,000 posts about “AI” and “pets”, showing animals dressed up, dancing, and even taking exams. Chen, who’s in his thirties, started learning AI tools in 2022. “I was worried AI might take designers’ jobs, so I learned new skills in my free time,” he said. He planned to use AI to make his designs even better. The idea of the exercising cat came from his own experience. Chen once had a health problem, and a doctor told him to do Baduanjin to get stronger. Later, when he did the exercises, he thought, “Why not let cats do it too ” He hoped these funny AI cats would make people care more about their health. “At that time, not many people knew much about AI, and there weren’t many cute pet pictures like mine,” Chen said. Now, with over 50,000 fans, he’s working with big companies, like milk tea shops, car factories, and app makers. “It’s good for both of us. They help me get more fans, and I help them get more attention,” he added.
