Greeting: Greet the ss and have a brief chat about the weather and their food today. 2. Present the new words and phrases in the unit by showing the pictures and doing actions. 2. Sentence patterns. Present the sentence patterns: "How was your weekend What did you do " on the PPT. Explain the usage of the simple past tense. Justification: Key sentence patterns must be listed on the blackboard. Step3. Listening practice 1. 1b. Play the recording of the 2 conversations.Before listening, ask the ss to read the questions in 1b. 2. 1c: Play the recording again. Have the ss listen and write P for Peter or TF for Teng Fei for each activity. Step 4. Pair work 1. Have the ss talk about one of the conversations in 1b with a partner using the sentence patterns "How was …'s weekend It was … ." Step 5. Pronunciation 1. Listen and repeat. Play the recording of the pronunciation part. Have the ss listen and repeat the words. Ask the ss to notice the differences in the pronunciation of the letters and letter combination. 2. -(e)d pronunciation Play the recording of the -(e)d pronunciation. Have the Ss listen and repeat the words. Explain the rules of the -(e)d pronunciation. Step 6.: Summary and Homework Summarize the key points of this lesson, including the new words, phrases, sentence patterns and pronunciation rules. Ask ss to write a short passage.
