Unit　7　Poems 1教学目标 By the end of the lesson, the students will have learned the meaning, form and pronunciation as well as practised the use of the new lexis in the context of reading a poem Never a dull moment. 2学情分析 My class is composed of 11 girls and 12 boys aged from 14 to 15. Relatively speaking, girls perform better in English learning. Most of the students are interested and active and they are willing to express themselves in class when they are confident in their answers. But if faced with challenges, they will be too nervous and become less active. Besides, there are about two-fifth of the students who are very quiet and shy. They need more care, encouragement and confidence to show their ideas even if they are asked easy questions. All the students lack a natural communicative environment to learn, practice and use new lexis. Most of them just read the new lexis, remember the Chinese meaning and recite the spelling in a very simple and traditional way without enough emphasis on meaning, form and pronunciation. The teaching material is from Oxford English 8B Unit7 More practice, which is optional content as the last part of the whole unit. And I intend to create a chance for the students to learn and practice new lexis in a thoughtful and reflective way in the context of reading a poem generally. In the second period, the students will be guided to do some reading comprehension and practice poem reading skills. 3重点难点 The MPF(meaning / pronunciation / form) of the new lexis 4教学过程 教学活动 活动1【导入】Lead－in 1. Play a “wonder wheel” game to elicit “famous poet”. ICQs: Do you need to work alone or with groups members What do we need to write for each picture (The first letter) Which direction should we start from Right or left What information can we get from this wheel at last 2. Brainstorm famous poets from home and abroad. 3. Read two poems and translate into Chinese. 活动2【讲授】Clarification　about　the　new　lexis S: work in pairs and make a list of new lexis. Some of the words can be taught or explained by each other. T: teach the MPF of the new lexis with different methods. 1. dull adj. Use a synonym “boring” & an antonym “interesting” to illustrate it. e.g. Superman was so dull that John stopped watching it halfway.
