Lead-in: Do you remember her A lovely giant panda, Xi Wang Step 2. Have a revision: 1.--Why is it called “Xi Wang” --Because Xi Wang means “hope”.=Because the meaning of Xi Wang is hope. mean (v.) meaning (n.) --What problems do they face --It’s hard for them to have babies. --They have no place to live or food to eat. --They may die when they get ill.=They may die because of illness ill (adj.) illness (n.) --What should we do to help --We should act to protect them.=We should take action to protect them. act (v.) action (n.) 通过图片加文字的形式，复习前面所学的知识，同时通过描红重点引出我们本课需要讲解的形容词动词变名词的语法。 Step 2. Presentation 教师通过复习meaning,illness和action，让学生通过观察得出其规律。教师再对后缀做解释和讲解。 Suffix 后缀： A suffix is a letter or a group of letters that add to the end of a word to form a new word. 后缀是添加在单词词尾以形新的单词的一个字母或者一组字母。 We can add “ing”, “ness” and “ion” to some verbs and adjectives to form nouns. 2.教师让学生进行的小组的头脑风暴，让学生根据例子，想出尽可能多的同类词，然后派代表进行展示，最后老师给出参考答案。 Brainstorm Group-work：Try to think of more nouns with the suffixes -ing (meaning) _____ .-ness (illness) _____ -ion (action) _____ 3.讲解及练习（1）We can change some verbs into nouns by adding the suffix-ing More examples: begin feel meet lose shop swim jog beginning feeling meeting losing shopping swimming jogging （2）Sometimes we can change adjectives into nouns by adding suffixes too.（adj.+-ness—n. .kind--kindness kind dark sad careless happy ugly gentle ill Kindness darkness sadness carelessness happiness ugliness gentleness illness （3）Sometimes we can change verbs into nouns by adding suffixes too . act invent discuss donate educate organize invite action invention discussion donation education organization invitation Sometimes we need to change the ending of the verb/adjective when we add the suffix. 给出特例，Can you think of more 留下问题，此处老师不做拓展讲解，给英语学习一点留白，给学生更多的自主学习的机会，留给学生课后查字典或者其他方式自己解决。 shop shopping happy happiness decide decision invite invitation Step 3.
