Ask student to give some examples about DIY. Give some examples of some DIY. Ask students to describe these DIY in English: Mainly about: colour, shape, material, fun_ction. Accumulate some words 列举自己能想到的DIY。 讨论PPT中的DIY,用语言描述它们的颜色、性质、功能、材质等。 新课开始,教师通过发散思维、展示图片的方式初步了解DIY,扩充单词量,引起学生的学习兴趣。 讲授新课 1.New words Show the new words (with their pictures) Explain the pronunciation meaning, application, extension of each word. The new words are: crazy, terrible, once, mistake, pipe, fill, ceiling, shelf, advise, course, already, instead, attend Game: You act I guess. Student A stand back to the screen and student B see the words and act it out to make student A guess what it is. Finish the exercise B1 on page45 2.Revision Discuss and answer these questions. Is DIY easy or difficult? Why? Can you introduce your favourite DIY works? What can you do to improve your DIY skill? 3. Pre-reading Listen to the passage. Find out what DIY does Andrew’s try to make. 4.While-Reading Listen to the passage and read the article. Translate the article. Answer some questions. 1. Is Andrew good at DIY? 2. Why Suzy’s book can’t stay on the shelf? 3. Who knows more about DIY now? Pair work: Act Suzy and Andrew in pairs about taking DIY course. Why or why not? 6.
