Before class , please see a movie first . He is talking about money . Do you like money ? Ok, all of you answer Yes. To be honest, I like money, too. So somebody will give you one million pound bank note , what would you do with it ? One million pound, so much money . T: How about you? S:-- T; yes, all the answers are reasonable: to buy a car, make an investment, maybe the girls would like to go shopping, travel abroad, even around the world, to do some researches, donate to charity to help people in need, save money for further generation and buy a villa…..But it is not true and never happened. But , in unit 3 one million pound bank note such kind of amazing thing did happened to Henry. Step 2: review Now ,let review the Act I scene3 Here are four pictures .. Can you remember the characters? Can you tell the whole story? (Two rich old brothers ,Oliver and Roderick made a bet. Henry, an American business man, hungry, penniless and in rags was wondering in the street in London. they asked Henry to come into their house and gave him a letter and told him not to open it until 2 o’clock. Henry left the house with the letter.) Guess: where would he go first? Restaurant. To feed himself. Step 3: Fast reading Before reading the text, Let’s have a prediction: What would happen to Henry at the restaurant? A. He was not taken seriously. B. He was treated politely. Open your book , turn to page 22.and read the passage, to find more information to support your idea. While reading your should pay attention to your speed, rhythm, pitch. stress and emotion (five minutes) Ready? Do you think Henry was not treated seriously or politely? Please read out the sentences in the passage to support your idea. Step 4: Listening At first ,Henry was treated not seriously ,but after showing out his million pound bank note, he was treated very politely. Let’s listen to the tape and feel/experience the change of their attitude to Henry. Step4: Watch the video T: Their attitude became polite and lowly, put themselves lower than Henry.
