Warm-up Talk about Danny’s cake. What a special cake! Step 2. Presentation Fast reading. Looking at the pictures, students go through the passage quickly, then answer this questions: How many surprises are there in Danny's cake? Two. What're the surprises in Danny's cake? It has no sugar and every cake has a dollar in it. Intensive reading. Read the story carefully. Then answer the questions. Why does Danny make a cake? He makes the cake for the class party. What does Danny need for the cake? Flour, eggs, water, milk, salt and a spoon. Does Danny make a picture on the cake? Yes, he does. Why does Danny walk slowly to school? Because the cake is heavy. Who brings the ice cream? Mr. Wood. Does Jenny bring any cookies? Yes, she does. What does every cookie look like? Every cookie looks like a student in the class. Who send a piece of cake to Li Ming? Mr. Wood. Does Li Ming get a letter too? Yes, he does. What can you learn from the story? Everyone likes a surprise. We should do everything carefully. 3. Play the recording, read and repeat the story. Step 3. Drills Circle the key words you learn. address, inside, piece, send, slowly, student, special, sugar Step 4. Practice 1. Look at the pictures, try to retell the story. 2. Let’s act. Step5. Summary and evaluation 1. Go through the key words and structures. 2. Ask the students to give themselves an evaluation. Step6.
